Añatuya recipes: a book to nourish the present and transform the future
We launched the campaign “Añatuya recipes” with a clear goal: to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life and to shed light on a reality that affects thousands of children living in extreme poverty.
We introduced the campaign through a book that, far from being a traditional cookbook, offers a raw and honest perspective on the diet of many of the families we support in the provinces of Santiago del Estero, Chaco, and Salta.
Are its pages empty?
Yes. Each empty page seeks to provoke reflection and inspire action, highlighting the challenges faced by those who do not have guaranteed access to adequate nutrition.
A book that is not about cooking, but about reality
Añatuya Recipes is a fictional book that features empty pages representing the lack of food and nutrients in many households, as well as meals prepared with very few ingredients—often cooked over open fire, with little variety and insufficient nutritional value.
Stews, mate cocido, and rice are part of the daily diet of many children during a critical stage of their development.
Far from romanticizing this situation, the book aims to show it as it truly is.
During the first years of life, the body and brain develop at a rapid pace and require essential nutrients for proper physical, cognitive, and emotional growth. When this nutrition is lacking, the consequences can last a lifetime, affecting health, learning, and future opportunities.
Our goal is clear: to raise awareness about the urgent need to ensure healthy eating habits in the most vulnerable contexts and to call on society not to look the other way.
We believe that access to adequate nutrition during the first 1,000 days is not only a matter of health, but a fundamental condition for breaking the cycle of poverty. Through this campaign, we aim to inform, mobilize, and inspire collective commitment.
With this campaign, we invite society to learn more, share the message, and get involved. We envision a country where all children have equal opportunities to grow and thrive, regardless of where they are born, and where families can move forward through their own efforts, supported and strengthened along the way.
Some of the public figures who joined the campaign and helped amplify its message include Claudio Rigoli, Karina Mazzocco, Alejandra Rogel, Guillermo Andino, Jerónimo Freixas, Ximena Sáenz, Karina Gao, and Sergio Verón.
